Mini Golf Grand Opening
The PMRM hosted a Mini Golf grand opening that had a great turn out with over 100 people. We had wagon rides, pony rides, Mini golf, and ice cream for $2 each.
Day Camp
The PMRM just finished hosting a historic day camp for youth aged 5 years and older. This event ran from August 8 to August 12 from 9 am to noon each day. They had a total of 18 children participate throughout the week which is our highest enrollment to date.Lots of fun was had by all that attended as each day was filled with different activities and experiences.
The focus on Monday was meet and greet. The children got to meet and feed the animals that hang out at the museum. This was followed by them all getting pony rides.Then the children all got to make a craft which was creating butterflies out of coffee filters.
Tuesday’s focus was to visit the McNarry house and Olha School. Both of these buildings are located near the main museum.In both settings the children got to see all of the artifacts. They also got to experience what school would be like in a one room school.All of the children learned how to wash clothes the old fashioned way and to even practice their washing and scrubbing skills. When that was done they all got a wagon ride back to the museum. When they got back the
children all did another craft which was paper weaving.
Wednesday’s morning started out with the children making leaf prints with colorful markers. Once the children were done they all got to make a wool doll. Once all of the dolls were made all of the children went outside to play some old fashioned games. The games played were Red Rover and Ante Over.To complete the morning the children came in to do another craft which was a pastel wash.
Thursday's morning was filled with the children painting birdhouses followed by making homemade ice cream.The children got to add sprinkles to their treat to make it more enjoyable. This was then followed by a good old fashioned game of bingo with chips.There were lots of winners that morning.
Finally on Friday morning the children got to decorate the birdhouses to start the day.Then all of the children were split into 2 groups and did a museum themed scavenger hunt.Prizes were given to the children that successfully completed the hunt which consisted of freezies and gold chocolate coins. After everyone had a snack all of the children tackled their last craft which was to make their own little covered wagon. To end the day off the children went outside to play relays.
It was a great week at PMRM.Children got to meet new people and learn things about history.
Day Camp 2021
The PMRM just finished hosting a historic day camp for youth aged 5 and up from August 16th to 20 that ran from 9 to noon each day. Lots of fun was had by all that attended. Each day was filled with different activities for the children that were able to come.
Monday’s focus was having the children meet and feed the animals that hang out at the museum. The children all got to go for a pony ride.Then the children took part in a good game of kick the can. The final big activity was making butter which they were able to try out after.
Tuesday’s focus was to visit the McNarry’s house that has lots of cool artifacts. Then the children learned and tried to wash clothes the old fashioned way. When that was done the children played with bubbles and made their own homemade fiddle.
Wednesday’s focus was hanging out at the Olha school. Here they experienced what a one school classroom was all about. This was followed by a potato and flower paint activity.
Thursday's morning was filled with the children carrying out a scavenger hunt. Once the hunt was done the children competed in a paper airplane making and flying contest.
Friday the children took part in some good old fashioned relays. Due to the rain they were hosted indoors. Then the children made homemade ice cream. They especially enjoyed the ice-cream because they worked up such an appetite from their relays.
It was a great week filled with lots of laughs and great experiences that help educate the younger people on what life was like long ago. PMRM had 17 children participate throughout the week.
