When they arrived on the 25th, we had a group from Shoal Lake school here for a field trip, all dressed in pioneer clothing. These guests rode up in style, with shiny motorcycles ready to put on the kilometers. They were separated into two groups due to the high volume of people eager to join this Montreal, QC, to Victoria, BC, tour of a lifetime. The guests enjoyed their visit and wrote in the book how the museum was “Très beau” and “Amazing”. We are appreciative of getting so many nice comments! At the end of the visits, we had a nice sendoff that included waves and honks. We wish them a happy and safe vacation!

Celebrate Good Times
As her celebrations come to an end, we would like to reflect on this month's festivities Edith had with us. On June 13th, we were honoured to host the second birthday function of four at our museum. Edith Edmundson’s 105th birthday came with a bang, full of influential people like Merv Starzyk from the YellowHead Municipality, our local MLA Greg Nesbit and Dan Mazier our MP. As well as certificates of great honour, and between 150 to 170 people in attendance to celebrate the special lady. At this event, visitors filled the museum, all enjoying the occasion, the food, and the venue. We would like to thank everyone who came out and celebrated Edith with us!

Mini Golf
Mini golf is open every day and is a fun pass of time. This event will run from August 10th to August 14th from 9 am to noon each day. Lots of fun will be had by all that attend as each day will be filled with different activities and experiences.
Some of the events that might be held are to meet and feed the animals, hang out at the museum, pony rides, making crafts, visit the McNarry house and Olha School, both of these buildings are located near the main museum, learn how to wash clothes the old fashioned way, play some old fashioned games (Red Rover and Ante I Over), making homemade ice cream, museum themed scavenger hunt, play relays.
It will be a great week at PMRM. Children will get to meet new people and learn things about history.

  Facebook Page!

Day Camp 2021

The PMRM just finished hosting a historic day camp for youth aged 5 and up from August 16th to 20 that ran from 9 to noon each day. Lots of fun was had by all that attended. Each day was filled with different activities for the children that were able to come.
Monday’s focus was having the children meet and feed the animals that hang out at the museum. The children all got to go for a pony ride. Then the children took part in a good game of kick the can. The final big activity was making butter which they were able to try out after.
Tuesday’s focus was to visit the McNarry’s house that has lots of cool artifacts. Then the children learned and tried to wash clothes the old fashioned way. When that was done the children played with bubbles and made their own homemade fiddle.
Wednesday’s focus was hanging out at the Olha school. Here they experienced what a one school classroom was all about. This was followed by a potato and flower paint activity.
Thursday's morning was filled with the children carrying out a scavenger hunt. Once the hunt was done the children competed in a paper airplane making and flying contest.
Friday the children took part in some good old fashioned relays. Due to the rain they were hosted indoors. Then the children made homemade ice cream. They especially enjoyed the ice-cream because they worked up such an appetite from their relays.
It was a great week filled with lots of laughs and great experiences that help educate the younger people on what life was like long ago. PMRM had 17 children participate throughout the week.

The Horses are Back!

http://www.pmrm.ca/blog/the-horses-are-back

http://www.pmrm.ca/blog/the-horses-are-back#comments

Uncategorized

Come on down to the museum and see our horses!
